What's going on?

I hope everything is going ok-I am sure Mrs. Vitali is doing a fine job.  The first assignment I left her with is showing you Dead Poet's Society-this is one of my favorite movies.  Carpe Diem!!!!  I hope you like it and take away the theme-what is the author trying to teach you?  How can you apply this message to your own life?  Please feel free to message me anytime-I am here for you and never far away.....

We have read several stories this year that involved bullying and intolerance.  You have just viewed several videos, read poetry, and listened to lyrics that deal with this subject.  What are your thoughts on the new bill that will make it against the law to bully?  Do you think this bill will change the amount of bullying that happens at our school? Also-was there a video, interview, or piece of writing involved in this assignment that spoke to you?  Explain....

Did you love this story or what?  Who was your favorite character and why?  What was the author's purpose?

We recently make digital book reports.  Did you like leaning imovie?  Was it better than a traditional book report/  What was the hardest part of the process  What did you learn?

Who did you research for  your biography project?  What did you learn-any interesting facts?  What did you learn while listening to the speeches in class?  Did you have a favorite speech?

We are starting our spirit animal research project.  What animal did you choose, or which animal chose you?  Why do you think that animal is  your match?

We are reading a novel-Touching Spirit Bear.  In this book the main character is a bully.  He robs a harware store, then brags about it at school.  When a boy tells on him, he beats him up so badly he may have brain damage.  Does Cole deserve the punishment he gets?   Did he have the right to harm someone else like that?  What is your opinion on bullies?  What do you think will happen when it becomes against the law to bully?

My favorite genre is historical fiction. When I was a little girl I loved  Little House on the Prairie.  I actually wanted to change my name to Laura.  Over summer vacation I read The Book Thief.  It is about the Holocaust and the narrator is death-it was an awesome book.

What are your thoughts so far?  What is your favorite class?  Do you like middle school better than elementary school?  Why or why not?
